It has been a very peculiar week or so for the Toronto Maple Leafs. It’s not that the Leafs beat the Capitals 7-1, and most recently the Bolts 7-1; that is just every day shit. What is weird can be traced back to the game prior to these two, against the Nashville Predators.

The first event can be seen here in the following video:

JOFFREY LUPUL GETS KICKED – CLICK HERE

My favourite part of this video is how easy it is to figure out the words that were running through Lupul’s head as the events unfolded:

“A penalty? Me? Ah, Wilson is going to be pissed.”

“The fuck?”

Now, while this is the kind of shenanigans that gets a man knocked out (when not separated by a giant pane of glass), the man at least got two minutes for being a jackass. I’d like to thank him for that though. Since the kick in the head, Sir Lupul has 6 points in the last 3 games, putting him in 2nd overall for points. Thanks asshole!

While this speaks volumes to the character of the Nashville fanbase, this action is completely negated later on in the period when Craig Smith breaks in on the empty Toronto net:

CRAIG SMITH IS A MORON – CLICK HERE

I don’t think there is anything that I can say to make it worse than it already is. The man was inside of the crease. My cousin, who plays Timbits hockey at the age of 5, would score that goal 9 times out of 10. And they haven’t even learned to stop yet. Craig Smith, welcome to the world of Sportscenter highlights for the rest of your life.

The biggest story in the NHL this week has been the story about Sidney Crosby. He played his first game against the Isles, scored 2 goals, and picked up 2 assists. However, his return overshadowed bigger news regarding comebacks from concussions: JAMES REIMER IS GOING TO BE BACK BY THE END OF THE WEEK! I have not felt this emotion since the first time I heard the Beatles. Tears of joy came to my eyes; the prophecy has been fulfilled. The starting goaltender is back, and the Leafs are back on their way to the Stanley Cup Finals. Phil “The Thrill” Kessel is still atop the scoring race, and the Leafs are back where they should be: at the top of the conference. I’m not sure about you, but I think this seems like a good baseline for the Leafs Stanley Cup Parade:
